Sea Kayaking gets you to places you can’t get to any other way. Coves, Caves and Creeks with fun around rocks, and stunning exposure out in the open sea. Sea Kayaking gives you a feeling of being a part of the sea, you feel the movements and surges and the challenge of working with the ocean.

Our Introduction to Sea Kayaking courses are all run by one of the most experienced and qualified coaches in the UK. You use some really great, well looked after equipment and you’ll be learning on the stunning Isle of WIght coastline.

It will include the following aspects:

  • Interpreting sources of information including maps, charts and tide tables
  • To navigate on the water using visual references and simple pilotage techniques e.g. transits, dead reckoning and a compass
  • You’ll learn the fundamentals of sea kayak technique.
  • You go on a journey to develop and hone your new skills and knowledge, and start the process of being an independent paddler.
  • You’ll learn some self and group rescue techniques.

This is not a formal or certificated course, but you may have the opportunity to gain one of the British Canoeing awards.

The day is very much your day, and it will be individualised based on your needs, as much as possible, although if you want to progress much quicker and want specific tailored coaching by an expert sea kayak coach then give us a call and explore the idea of a 1:1 coaching day.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  • Use of all sea kayaking equipment
  • All maps, charts, tide tables & resources

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:

  • Ferry to the IOW, although you will be given a discount code on booking
  • Food & drink
  • BC registration fees

YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Warm clothing to wear under your wetsuit – such as a thin fleece jumper, or thick thermal long sleeved top.
  • Shoes to wear whilst on the water – that you don’t mind getting wet.
